Yes, most Ausbildung programs require at least B1 level German proficiency. Some specialized fields may require B2. We can help connect you with language courses to reach the required level before your application.
Ausbildung programs typically last 2-4 years, depending on the profession and your prior qualifications. Most programs are 3 years, but they can range from 2 years for simpler professions to 4 years for specialized technical fields. Some programs offer fast-track options for candidates with relevant experience or higher education.
Ausbildung is a dual training program where you work and study simultaneously. You'll receive a stipend from your training company. Additional part-time work is possible but limited to ensure you can focus on your training.
After successfully completing your Ausbildung, you'll receive a nationally recognized qualification certificate. Many trainees are offered a permanent position by their training company, and the recognized qualification opens roles across the sector. Your residence permit can be extended for job searching if needed, and later converted to a work permit.
