About this Apprenticeship

European Site & Verbund Management continuously develops BASF's major European sites, securing their competitiveness: we manage the perfect integration of infrastructure, operational services, personnel services, and logistics with production at the sites. This ensures the basic supply for business units, enabling them to operate successfully in the market. Additionally, we advise plants on all matters relating to environmental protection, occupational and plant safety, health protection, and permitting law.

As part of your 6-month internship starting March 2027, our Human Biomonitoring unit within Corporate Health Management offers you the opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into one of the world's leading chemical companies. Human biomonitoring is a central component of BASF's occupational health and safety: the concentration of hazardous substances and their metabolites in the human body is determined using high-performance analytical methods, and the results are subsequently assessed from an occupational medical and toxicological perspective.

What You'll Learn

You actively participate in the development, validation, and application of analytical methods in human biological material. Within our quality management system, you support the team in quality assurance of analytical results and the creation of standard operating procedures. You evaluate investigation results regarding their toxicological relevance and develop toxicological assessments of hazardous substances. In addition, you independently take on projects and can expand your knowledge by participating in job-related further training.

Requirements

Scientific degree, e.g., chemistry or a comparable course of study with above-average academic performance. Ideally first practical experience in the areas of quality management, analytical methods, and project work. Strong interest in instrumental analytics, precise results, and toxicological issues. Confident communication in German and English. Proficient in standard IT applications. Team player, analytical and forward-thinking mindset, sense of responsibility, and ability to work independently.

What We Offer

Practical phase - actively apply theory in challenging and varied tasks/projects. Team buddy - contact person for all questions and regular feedback. Networks - get to know different perspectives, mindsets, and work areas. Internship remuneration - recognition of your commitment, further information available here. Flexible working hours - depending on location and area of assignment.
