Apprenticeship Materials Tester Systems Engineering

As a materials tester systems engineering you inspect components installed in plants or technical systems. You learn the various test methods of non-destructive and destructive materials testing and their application. These include hardness tests (e.g. Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers) and non-destructive testing methods (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT). Your tasks also include the inspection, calibration and maintenance of test and auxiliary equipment, the documentation and analysis of test results as well as the statistical evaluation and interpretation of measurement results. The material behavior under environmental protection during materials testing and the handling of hazardous substances.

• Qualifying secondary school diploma, intermediate school leaving certificate or equivalent educational qualification.
• Interest in varying activities and working at customer sites.
• Technical understanding, curiosity and willingness to learn, manual dexterity, conscientious and careful way of working (in a team and independently).
