The apprenticeship, which normally lasts three years, covers meat processing, the production and presentation of meat and sausage products, customer advice and sales. It may be shortened under certain conditions.

Processing meat and producing meat and sausage products; presenting products attractively at the counter; advising customers and selling products; refining meat into specialties; complying with hygiene regulations and caring for and checking goods; keeping the sales counter clean and orderly; preparing platter services.

Personal hygiene and an eye for cleanliness; fine motor skills; enjoyment of working with food; team spirit and quick comprehension; enjoyment of contact with people and openness; commercial aptitude and interest in business processes; sense of responsibility, organizational skills and commitment.
