Nursing Care Assistant - Full-Time Apprenticeship (18 Months)

The full-time nursing care assistant apprenticeship lasts 18 months, or up to 36 months part-time. It includes 1,050 hours of theoretical and practical instruction and 1,280 hours of practical training. Previously acquired qualifications or relevant experience may be recognised under certain conditions.

You support people in maintaining independence and shaping their lives, carry out care measures in different care settings, support health promotion and prevention, observe and document care processes, communicate and build relationships professionally, assist with diagnostic and therapeutic measures, apply hygiene and quality standards, follow legal and ethical requirements, use digital documentation and communication systems and work in an interprofessional team. The programme includes placements in long-term residential care, outpatient care, acute inpatient care and other nursing settings.

To enter the programme, you need a lower secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification, or a completed vocational qualification, as well as a training contract with a practical training provider. You also need to be medically fit, have sufficient German skills, demonstrate personal reliability, provide an extended certificate of good conduct and have sufficient vaccination protection. You should be interested in working with people and willing to take responsibility and work in a team.

The programme offers classroom teaching in modern rooms, digital learning platforms, guided self-study phases, project- and case-based learning, skills training, digital teaching and learning materials, practical reflection and learning support. Afterwards, you may enter training as a registered nurse, shorten your training, complete further training as a practice instructor, or take part in specialisation and further training programmes.
