Resident Physician Department of Internal Medicine I

The Department of Internal Medicine I (Chief Physician Prof. Dr. med. Dimitri Flieger) has 84 planned beds and covers the full spectrum of gastroenterology including hepatology, hematology and internal oncology, rheumatology, infectiology and diabetology as well as metabolic diseases. Annually more than 6,500 outpatient and inpatient chemotherapies and over 13,000 sonographic and endoscopic procedures are performed. The internal emergency department, the functional unit endoscopy/sonography, the area of gastroenterological/hepatological functional diagnostics and the gastroenterological/hepatological, oncological and rheumatological outpatient clinic are integrated into the department. Focus areas: Gastroenterology, Endoscopic examinations and ultrasound, Hepatology, Infectiology, Diabetology, Internal Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, Internal Rheumatology, Colon cancer prevention.
