Master's Thesis System, IV & V & Test Engineering

Master's thesis in the System IV & V & Test Engineering area at the Fürstenfeldbruck site on the topic "Multi-Modal-Image Matching for Remote Sensing Data".

• Systematic research and evaluation of existing methods for registering heterogeneous image data types (e.g. thermal to VIS data, varying flight altitudes, time-shifted recordings)
• Development and selection of suitable methods for specific sensor combinations from airborne systems (optical sensors, infrared cameras, SAR radar or laser scanners)
• Application, combination and evaluation of the methods using concrete datasets from HENSOLDT flight measurement campaigns as well as freely available or newly collected data
• Assessment of the methods regarding robustness and achievable localization accuracy
• Focus on the use case: developing solutions for localizing a UAV platform in GNSS-denied environments using geolocated reference data
• Documentation and presentation of the scientific results

• Enrolled student (m/f/d) in a master's program in electrical engineering, computer science or a comparable field
• Knowledge of digital image processing and remote sensing
• Analytical and independent way of working and enjoyment of scientific work
• Very good German and good English skills
