PLC & Automation Engineer

Permanent position in software development at KUKA Group in Augsburg (hybrid). You develop software architectures and automation solutions for the MagnetArc Welding, rotary friction welding and friction stir welding machine platforms.

• Develop and further develop software architectures, standards and reusable software modules for our MagnetArc Welding (MAW), rotary friction welding (RFW) and friction stir welding (FSW) machine platforms
• Drive standardization, modularization and reusability of our software solutions
• Build and further develop virtualization, simulation and virtual commissioning concepts
• Implement demanding automation solutions with Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCAT
• Take responsibility for motion control, drive and hydraulic control applications
• Provide technical support and coaching for PLC programmers and carry out architecture and code reviews
• Technically support projects from concept phase to successful commissioning in international customer projects
• Work closely with internal and external interfaces to implement innovative automation solutions
• Actively contribute as an expert in day-to-day operations with a high degree of personal responsibility

• Degree in automation engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or a comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in the technical management of PLC projects in series or special machine construction.
• Very good knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCAT
• Experience in software architecture, motion control and drive technology
• Ideally knowledge of control engineering and hydraulic systems
• Experience with virtual commissioning, simulation or digital twins is an advantage
• Ability to drive technical decisions and act as the expert contact for complex questions
• Strong communication skills and enjoyment of working with different departments and international interfaces
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken (min. C1)
