Welding Technician Central Workshop M-MW

For its production site in Wesseling near Cologne, LyondellBasell is looking for a welding technician for the central workshop on a permanent basis, starting as soon as possible, in a dynamic production environment.

• Performing the technician function in welding technology and pressure vessel procurement at the Wesseling site
• Monitoring and quality assurance of welding processes
• Carrying out manual skill tests for external welders
• Checking supplier welding documentation for new equipment and carrying out product acceptance at suppliers
• Managing welder qualifications, procedure tests and work tests, and creating welding statistics
• Monitoring compliance with legal and internal plant requirements for welding technology at the Wesseling site
• Helping with regular updates of plant standards in welding technology
• Providing expert advice and support to maintenance and project planning departments
• Supporting and standing in for the workshop engineer or master craftsman in handling large maintenance and procurement projects
• Creating specifications and optimising workshop processes in line with department and site-wide processes

• Training as a welding technician or specialist, at least 5 years of welding experience in chemicals, power plants or similar, and further training as a state-certified technician in metal construction/process engineering
• Sound knowledge of the technical regulations in welding technology
• Knowledge of the Industrial Safety Ordinance, the Pressure Equipment Directive, the AD2000 regulations and DIN EN 13445
• Qualifications in non-destructive testing (VT, RT2FAS) desirable
• Very good communication and teamwork skills, a responsible, independent and structured way of working, and strong safety awareness
• Willingness to travel for quality assurance at suppliers and manufacturers in Germany and neighbouring countries
• Assertiveness and willingness to take on responsibility
• Strong quality awareness as well as experience and confidence in reading technical drawings
• Solid skills in using IT tools
• Fluent German and good written and spoken English
