Apprenticeship as Wholesale and Foreign Trade Management Merchant

During your apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade management, you get to know many departments at the METRO Deutschland head office in Düsseldorf. Besides purchasing, you can support colleagues in delivery business, accounting, marketing or personnel development. Practical projects and tasks that complement school lessons give you a deep insight into the world of wholesale. The training lasts two to three years, and the start is 1 August 2026. Location: Schlüterstraße 7, Düsseldorf. Full-time.

• You only fetch coffee for yourself, because at METRO Deutschland you actively take part from the start and are part of the team
• Become an expert in the world of goods and learn how to plan and manage a product range that is unique across Germany
• Your opinion counts: take part in tastings and sample reviews and help decide which new products make it into the METRO Deutschland range
• You are the contact person for our METRO Deutschland stores and support them with help and advice
• Be there when negotiating with suppliers
• You get to know our merchandise management and develop a feel for which products our professional customers want
• During assignments in the wholesale store and in the METRO Deutschland depot, you get to know the business up close and understand the processes even better

• School education: you have a school qualification (e.g. Realschule, general (Fach-)Hochschulreife, Höhere Handelsschule) or a comparable qualification
• Enthusiasm: you are very interested in trade and enjoy dealing with our customers from the catering and food sectors
• Work style: you are conscientious and can work in a structured way
• Skills: you like working on the PC and have basic MS Office knowledge. You are also comfortable with numbers
• Team player: you are a team player and know that only as a strong community can we meet our customers' high standards
• Minimum age: you are at least 16 years old
