Apprenticeship: Plant Firefighters (2027)

Wherever increased danger threatens in industrial plants, plant firefighters provide fire and hazard protection. They coordinate safety measures to the specific operational needs and ensure that firefighters and equipment are ready for deployment at all times. In emergencies, they secure the scene, fight fires, and provide emergency medical care. Through this fundamental protective contribution for people and facilities, plant firefighters are indispensable in modern production plants. Focus and course of training: Plant firefighters are exceptionally versatile. Their extensive craft training, e.g., working with wood and metal, is provided in operational areas of the Bosch Group and in inter-company training centers. In vocational school, you will deal with the assessment and handling of hazardous substances and goods, recognizing and eliminating building technology hazards, securing deployment sites, firefighting, and technical assistance. In practical assignments, you will work with communication and information systems, legal principles, fire dynamics and firefighting, fire department vehicles and equipment, as well as securing, rescuing, and recovering. You will also acquire the ability to assess a fire's progression and its heat and smoke development and to deploy appropriate extinguishing agents and rescue equipment. In addition, you will conduct operations involving radioactive, biological, and chemical hazardous substances. Furthermore, you will be trained as a paramedic to provide first aid and obtain the Class CE driver's license. The training duration is 3 years.
