Working Student Process Simulation and Optimization

Our corporate headquarters in Burgwedel near Hanover – here around 3,000 employees work with full commitment to shape the future of ROSSMANN. Agile development comprises five groups, each consisting of several teams. These teams include analysts, application and BI developers, product owners, and testers. Whether developments for merchandise management, logistics, branches, online shop, ROSSMANN app, or other internal departments – the goal is to provide innovative and efficient solutions that meet modern technological requirements. Everyone finds the right challenge based on individual strengths – be it with RPG for IBM i systems, Java, Ruby, and PHP for back-office applications, Objective-C or Swift for iOS platforms, or Java for Android. Our creative diversity is reflected in every line of code.

• Understand Processes: You support the analysis and modeling of business processes, especially in logistics, and help identify automation and improvement potentials
• Build Simulation: Together with the team you contribute to the creation of simulation models with specialized software (e.g., AnyLogic, Plant Simulation) and conduct simulation experiments
• Evaluate Results: You evaluate simulation results, compare scenarios, and assist in creating decision templates for process optimization
• Make Processes Visible: You work on the visualization and documentation of processes and simulation results so that complex processes become understandable and presentable
• Accompany Workshops: You support workshops on process analysis and improvement, prepare materials, and gain direct insights into the exchange with specialist departments
• Shape Digital Transformation: In projects on digital transformation and automation of processes you participate and learn how ideas become concrete improvement measures

• Studies: You are an enrolled student in industrial engineering, (business) informatics, mechanical engineering, or a similar course of study? Then that's a great fit!
• Thesis: You are shortly before your bachelor's or master's thesis? We are happy to support you and offer you the opportunity to write your thesis in our subject area. The specific research question we will develop together – matching your interests and our projects
• Process Focus: Topics such as process analysis, optimization, and simulation excite you and you want to experience them in practice – not just in lectures
• Analytical Mindset: Analytical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, and the desire to examine causes rather than just symptoms characterize you
• First Experiences: Ideally you have already gained initial theoretical or practical exposure to process modeling or simulation – e.g., in projects, internships, or exercises
