Practice-Integrated Apprenticeship as a State-Recognized Early Childhood Educator at the City of Mönchengladbach

The City of Mönchengladbach offers a three-year practice-integrated apprenticeship as a state-recognized early childhood educator. Practical training takes place in one of more than 40 municipal childcare centers alongside vocational college. The apprenticeship starts on August 1, 2027.

Plan, conduct and document educational activities; help shape the childcare center's daily work together with the team.

Intermediate school-leaving certificate with a relevant two-year vocational qualification, a health and social care technical college qualification, at least five years of full-time experience as an unqualified assistant in the social education sector, or a two-year non-relevant vocational qualification plus a 240-hour internship; alternatively, a university entrance qualification or university of applied sciences entrance qualification plus at least six weeks or 240 hours of internship in a social education institution; a place at a vocational college in Mönchengladbach; enjoyment of working with children, young people and families; social competence, teamwork and conflict-management skills, motivation, resilience, empathy, a sense of responsibility and strong communication skills.

Gross monthly pay of €1,490.69 in the first, €1,552.07 in the second and €1,653.38 in the third year; capital-forming benefits of €13.29, an annual special payment equal to 90% of November salary, occupational pension provision and a €400 bonus for passing the final exam; approximately 90% continued-employment rate; secure job with development and promotion opportunities; 31 days of vacation; company sports and health support; employee discounts and special offers.
