Apprenticeship as Pipeline Builder for Infrastructure Technology (formerly Pipeline Builder)

In addition, we are committed to the quality of life in our home in many other ways and operate the Badepark, one of the largest sports and leisure facilities in Elmshorn. Pipeline builders for infrastructure technology are responsible for the construction, repair and maintenance of pipelines. These can be pipes from a few meters in length up to several kilometers long in various dimensions. The size of construction sites also varies, from a house connection built in a short time to a major construction site when entire streets or several hundred households are supplied. At the end of a day, you can always see what you have achieved. The specific tasks of a pipeline builder for infrastructure technology include: reading construction and laying plans; assembly and laying of pipelines, especially gas and water; production of house connections for gas and water; assembly of fittings, branches, measuring devices; processing of plastic and metal materials; setting up and securing construction sites and trenches with wheel loaders and excavators; surveying work; conducting leak tests; repairing pipe bursts; excavation of pipe trenches; securing trench walls, e.g. with aluminum or timber shoring; backfilling and compacting of created pipe trenches. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and is divided into a practical and a theoretical part. Practical training always takes place on construction sites in Elmshorn and at the Bau Training Center in Hamburg. Theoretical fundamentals are taught at vocational school.

Secondary school diploma (Hauptschulabschluss) with good grades in technical and scientific subjects Math, Physics and possibly Works/Technology; Manual dexterity, precision and good eye for detail; Careful and circumspect work; Spatial imagination and technical understanding; Communication and teamwork skills; Enjoyment of physical work and good physical resilience; Interest in technical processes, handling of technical equipment, machines and systems
