Waste Watcher

For our Customer Center department we are looking for a Waste Watcher (m/f/d). The position is to be filled as soon as possible on a permanent, full-time basis. Remuneration is according to EG 5 TVöD. Waste Watchers, known in other cities as litter detectives, are to help ensure that public spaces are less polluted by waste and to work preventively to ensure that waste is avoided or disposed of correctly. In the Customer Center, the ten-member team looks after the approximately 23,000 Flensburg customers of the cost-accounting TBZ facilities for waste management, street cleaning and drainage. The Customer Center is also the first point of contact for all questions and suggestions regarding TBZ services.

Advice and information – point of contact for citizens who need information and help on cleanliness and disposal in public spaces; inspection and examination of bulky waste / illegal dumping; inspection of waste containers; visual checks in the city area by car & bicycle; approaching citizens caught in the act of leaving litter (cigarette butts, dog waste…); monitoring of winter service implementation; taking over cases from the defect reporter; initiation of administrative offence proceedings, documentation of facts; communication with the Municipal Regulatory Service and the Lower Waste Authority

Completed vocational training, basic knowledge of administrative procedures; physical suitability (deployment increasingly on foot or by bicycle), understanding of people, empathy; confident demeanor, persuasiveness, assertiveness; resilience, teamwork, high sense of responsibility; willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays; confidence in using word and data processing; willingness to undertake further training in legal and communication skills in the municipal sector (seminars); Class B driving licence
