The Ausbildung as a Fachangestellte*r für Medien und Informationsdienste with a specialization in archives primarily involves handling written documents and other materials from the university and its individual institutions, in order to preserve current information for future generations and to make historical documents accessible to today's users. As a Fachangestellte*r für Medien- und Informationsdienste with a specialization in archives, you will review these materials, assess their historical significance, prepare them, and secure them. In addition, you will be responsible for advising and assisting users.

• Course of your Ausbildung:
• Practical training at the University Archive of the University of Bonn
• School-based training at the Joseph-DuMont-Berufskolleg in Cologne

The Ausbildung lasts 3 years. This is a dual vocational Ausbildung, taking place both at the training company and at the vocational school. Vocational school classes are held at the Berufskolleg for 1 or 2 days per week, while your practical Ausbildung takes place at the University Archive. There, dedicated and experienced employees ensure effective and practice-oriented Ausbildung.

To successfully complete your Ausbildung, you will take an intermediate examination in the second year of your Ausbildung and a final examination at the end of the Ausbildung. It includes a written and a practical part.

• Fachoberschulreife, Fachhochschulreife or Abitur,
• good German language skills (B2 level),
