Medical Controller (Physician)

Würzburg University Hospital is looking for a Medical Controller (Physician) (m/f/d) for the Finance and Controlling division (Business Unit 3) starting 01.01.2027. Part-time, fixed-term.

• Advising clinical areas on documentation, coding and billing questions
• Ensuring complete and proper coding according to ICD and OPS
• Analysing and optimising documentation and billing processes
• Independent handling of MD review procedures
• Assessing MD expert opinions and preparing medical and billing-related statements
• Preparing and supporting discussion procedures
• Handling and coordinating lawsuits before the social courts
• Cooperation with medical departments, the legal department and external legal representatives
• Carrying out revenue, potential and case analyses
• Training and advising physicians, nursing staff and other professional groups

• Completed degree in medicine
• Sound knowledge of the DRG system, ICD/OPS coding and hospital billing
• Ideally experience in MD, discussion and litigation procedures
• Analytical, structured and independent way of working
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
