Study Engineer - GenAI & Agentic AI (AI)

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Study Engineer for the department "Operational Analysis and Studies". The department develops military simulation environments for studies and research projects, and AI methods for autonomous planning and decision-making. You support transferring academic research results to real systems in projects for the Bundeswehr, NATO and the European Union.

• Technical lead in the development and testing of AI approaches for autonomous planning and decision-making in the military environment
• Responsibility for carrying out a study with a small study team in terms of time, cost and quality
• Preparation and delivery of customer presentations and meetings
• Creation of software architectures and agentic AI frameworks on modern container/Kubernetes environments and distributed systems
• Leading technical exchange with other departments and project partners (industry, scientific institutes)
• Technical proposal lead for a study/project (scope, time, cost)
• Practical implementation and testing in cooperation with other departments and industrial and scientific partners (universities, Fraunhofer Society)

• Successfully completed university degree (Diplom/Master) or doctorate in computer science or engineering with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and/or simulation
• You have good practical programming experience in Python and corresponding single- and multi-agent systems.
• Solid experience in simulation development / game engines with Python and/or C++ (or comparable) would be an advantage
• Ideally, you have good practical experience in software engineering (including creating software architectures);
• Practical experience with container/Kubernetes/Docker environments and distributed systems (e.g. Ray)
• Confident use of CI/CD environments such as GitHub/Gitlab, PyCharm, Visual Studio, etc. (ideally on Windows and Linux)
• You have solid experience in agile technical leadership of project teams; good knowledge of the ATLASSIAN toolstack (JIRA, Confluence) is an advantage
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
• Fluent German and English skills
