About this Apprenticeship
As Component Loads Engineer in Hamburg, you will master the technical challenges around the fuselage and the VTP (vertical tail plane) in a transnational organisation located in Europe and India. In this role, you will also act as the Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Loads Integrator (FLI), serving as a key technical focal point and liaison between the Loads & Aeroelasticity (L&A) domain and the Stress Office (SO) F&DT group. We would like you to join our mixed team of 15 engaged engineers and scientists and get introduced to the different activities we perform from an early design stage until certification for all Airbus aircraft. We are responsible for the interface to our customers in airframe, systems, and cabin & cargo, identifying requirements and delivering aero and inertia loads for static and fatigue design. We perform special assessments around dynamic component problems and cabin analyses, and we contribute to the overall aircraft model within the loads process. Our in-house tool world ranges from high-performance software to simple scripts and is in the middle of a transformation to more automation and machine learning.
What You'll Learn
- As a team member, you will work in an empowered manner to ensure customer satisfaction. You will have the chance to develop throughout our activities and contribute to:
- Requirements capture and modelling for our components fuselage and VTP
- Mass modelling for overall aircraft loads
- Preparation and delivery of static and fatigue loads
- Loads computation for fairings, secondary structure, rudder, and/or specific cabin layouts
- Component dynamics
- Support airlines through Airbus Customer Services by carrying out L&A analyses of in-service events
- Contribute to Loads In-Service Support with troubleshooting activities in the L&A design office context for development and production flight test and in-service aircraft, performing related L&A assessments
- Engage for timely response to engineering queries as on-call engineer for Loads In-Service Support
Requirements
- You are a highly motivated, proactive, and open-minded person with a great sense of initiative who likes connecting people.
- You have a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, preferably with working experience in the loads-stress perimeter, dynamic modelling, or fatigue & damage tolerance (F&DT).
- You bring a solid background in flight physics, dynamic behavior, and aircraft fatigue loads evaluation.
- You are interested in understanding physical aspects, using engineering judgment, and applying analytical methods to solve complex load challenges.
- You are keen to deepen your technical knowledge while enjoying working in a multicultural and interdisciplinary team across sites.
- You are committed to investing your time in your development in the area of loads and aeroelastics along with the required methods, processes, and tools.
- This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
