Patient Advocate

Voluntary role as an independent point of contact for patients at St. Josefs Hospital Potsdam (Alexianer St. Josefs Potsdam GmbH, a basic and standard care hospital with 248 beds). A appreciative atmosphere and the chance to put your experience and skills to good use.

• You are a trusted and independent point of contact for patients and their relatives and take in concerns, questions, suggestions and complaints.
• You support patients in raising their concerns with the responsible staff and departments of the hospital.
• You mediate in misunderstandings or conflicts and help find suitable solutions together.
• You provide information about suitable contacts and internal and external support and complaint options.
• You work in a trusting way with complaint management, pastoral care, social services and other relevant areas, keeping a clear separation of the respective tasks.
• You identify recurring or structural issues and pass them on in a suitable form to the responsible bodies or hospital management. In this way you bring the patients' perspective into the further development of our quality of care.
• You document your work and the concerns raised while maintaining confidentiality and data protection.

• Enjoy working with people and have a high level of empathy, appreciation and social skills
• Strong communication and mediation skills, also in demanding conversations
• Discretion, reliability and a strong sense of responsibility
• Independent, neutral and solution-oriented way of working
• Willingness to commit time to regular voluntary work (ideally about one hour per week on site)
• Basic understanding of legal frameworks and confident use of digital media and data protection
• Experience in healthcare, the social sector or volunteering is an advantage
• You have a positive attitude toward the Christian values of the organization
