Training for Operating Theatre Assistant / OTA

• Theoretical and practical instruction as well as practical training
• Theoretical training takes place at our OTA school
• Practical assignments take place predominantly at Alfried Krupp Hospital
• Training start 01.08.2027, duration 3 years

• Completion of 18th year of age
• Medical fitness
• Secondary school leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss) or equivalent education or other completed ten-year schooling
• Lower secondary school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) or equivalent education, together with
• a) a successfully completed vocational training with a planned duration of at least two years or b) a permit as a nursing assistant or a successfully completed state-regulated training of at least one year in nursing assistance or other equivalent training
• For nursing staff, the training can be shortened by twelve months upon application if at least six months of activity in the operating theatre can be proven
• For medical assistants, the training can be shortened by six months if a twelve-month activity in the operating theatre can be proven and an entrance examination at an OTA school has been passed
