As an automotive mechatronics technician, you maintain the mechanical and electronic systems of cars. You can choose to specialize in passenger-car technology or systems and high-voltage technology for hybrid and electric vehicles. You lubricate parts, replace defective components, repair drive components, and replace lubricants as well as brake and hydraulic fluids. You also test and analyze drive units, damping, level-control and driver-assistance systems using electronic and computer-assisted measuring and diagnostic equipment.

Intermediate school-leaving certificate, vocational secondary school certificate or good lower secondary school certificate; manual dexterity; technical understanding; computer skills; responsible and precise working style; enthusiasm for technology, mechanics and electronics; analytical thinking and the ability to identify and solve problems.
