Lead Design Engineer Mechanical Design – Special Machinery

Within the Braun Technology Centre (BTC), B. Braun is looking as soon as possible for a lead design engineer for its Melsungen site. The BTC develops and builds custom special machines and tools for medical technology.

• Lead construction projects technically and coordinate internal and external development partners in special machinery engineering
• Responsible for mechanical development and design of innovative special machines and automated production systems from concept to series readiness
• Make guiding technical decisions, moderate design reviews and assess risks
• Ensure quality, schedule and cost targets in close coordination with project management and departments
• Ensure safety and standards compliance through risk assessments, safety evaluations and standard-compliant documentation
• Accompany technical implementation through commissioning, acceptance and handover of the machines to the customer
• Act as central technical contact for national and international customers, suppliers and development partners, presenting technical concepts and decision papers

• Successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, design engineering, mechatronics or a comparable field, or alternatively training as a state-certified technician with relevant professional experience
• Several years of professional experience in developing and designing special machines or automated production systems
• Sound knowledge of mechanical design of complex machines and assemblies and confident use of 3D CAD systems
• Experience in technically managing projects and working with interdisciplinary teams, customers, suppliers and external development partners
• Knowledge of machine safety, CE marking and risk assessment, technical systems understanding and a solution-oriented way of working
• Negotiation-level German and English, spoken and written
• Strong communication and moderation skills
• High sense of responsibility and decisiveness
