Process Mechanic Apprenticeship in Rhede

Our aspiring process mechanic in the stone and earth industry has already completed nearly two years of training. Time for a brief insight! The apprentice started on 01 August 2021 at our Rhede site. The school-based part takes place at Hans-Schwier Vocational College in Gelsenkirchen in block instruction (3-5 weeks at a time, 4 blocks). The first year focuses on basic knowledge. At the mixing plant, the basic process of an asphalt mixing plant is explained. Further practical skills are taught in a training workshop in Gummersbach (Steinmüller Education Centre), where all technical apprentices meet for metalworking basics. Later, welding certificates are obtained and basics of pneumatics and electrical engineering are taught. A joint trip to Talbecke quarry promotes exchange between branches and apprentices. The split between theory, craft basics, and practical work at asphalt plants aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and networking. The first intermediate exam (written and practical) has already taken place. In the second year, longer phases at operating sites allow applying learned skills, including assisting with winter revision (plant maintenance). Our goal is to create conditions for successful training through further training courses covering exam requirements. Training is led by experienced plant managers. An apprenticeship as a process mechanic in the stone and earth industry is definitely worthwhile.

Operation and monitoring of asphalt mixing plants. Material flow through the mixing plant. Maintenance and repair of plants (winter revision). Performing welding, pneumatic and electrical engineering tasks. Sampling and analysis.
