Doctoral Candidate In-Situ Characterization and Modeling of Transient Polyurethane Foam Systems

As a doctoral candidate at the BMW Group, you research the design and calculation of high-voltage batteries, focusing on adhesive and foam technologies for structurally joining components, and support the model-based evaluation of adhesion and foam mechanisms.

• Help create concepts and the geometric integration of the latest generation of high-voltage batteries
• Proactively determine and develop material properties for PU systems on new modular in-situ measurement setups
• Support modeling and material qualification as the basis for PU foam simulations
• Carry out destructive tests and develop new test methods to validate PU foam systems
• Help analyze PU foam using various test methods
• Independently plan and carry out tests in the production environment

• Degree in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification
• First experience using AI-supported tools
• Knowledge of the methodology and use of experimental designs
• Ideally experience with foam and adhesive technology and chemical analysis
• Strong interest in electromobility
• First experience handling technical and scientific questions
• Good German and English skills
