Biology Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

A 3.5-year dual apprenticeship as a biology laboratory technician at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. The program includes theoretical and practical laboratory instruction as well as hands-on placements at the institute.

Conduct scientific analyses and experiments; document, record and evaluate experimental results; perform quality controls; examine different foods for pathogens; diagnose and finely characterize pathogens; conduct microbiological and molecular-biological investigations.

At least a good intermediate school-leaving certificate; good grades in chemistry, mathematics, biology, German and English; good spoken and written German at least at B2 level; good written and verbal communication skills; interest in scientific work; conscientious working style and teamwork; applicants with foreign qualifications must provide proof of German language skills at B2 level and equivalence to a German qualification.

Collective-agreement training pay of €1,368.26 in the first, €1,418.20 in the second, €1,464.02 in the third and €1,527.59 in the fourth training year; flexible working-time arrangements; occupational pension; further training; subsidy for the Deutschlandticket Job; 31 days of vacation plus December 24 and 31 as non-working days; exposure to various departments; possibility of being taken on after the apprenticeship; family-friendly working conditions.
