CNC Machine Operator for Optical Components, One-Year Contract

Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH is seeking a CNC machine operator to manufacture optical components on a one-year contract. The company provides service and production support to internal business units and makes custom products for external customers.

• Grind, lap, center and polish individual optical components using CNC machines
• Set programs and machines, select tools, and define spindle speed, feed rate and pressure settings
• Monitor processes and check quality: inspect surface roughness, shape accuracy and imaging quality; document and correct deviations
• Follow safety, cleaning and quality standards

• Completed relevant vocational training in optics, or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Sound knowledge of surface measurement, including roughness and shape accuracy, and assessment of imaging quality; precise use of measurement methods
• Experience defining process parameters
• High accuracy and precision at every stage of work; compliance with cleanliness, cleanroom, safety and quality standards
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, clear documentation and structured fault analysis; willingness to learn and ability to improve processes continuously
• Willingness to work a three-shift pattern
