Development Engineer System Integration and Assembly Processes

As the heart of every electronically controlled system, they are indispensable in our daily lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is the technology leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and solutions for process control, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips – and thus decisively shapes the age of micro- and nanoelectronics with its innovations. In our group, you develop processes and tools for the integration of sensitive components into highly complex lithographic exposure optics. In doing so, you work closely with development, engineering and production and accompany our products and processes in modern cleanrooms up close.

• You develop assembly and integration processes for high-precision lithographic systems and support their introduction from the concept phase to series production
• You commission processes and tools, verify their performance and hand them over to engineering and production in a structured manner
• You analyze requirements, tolerances and interfaces, bring them into alignment and ensure a robust technical implementation
• You define work packages for internal and external partners, coordinate their implementation and ensure result quality
• You manage development scopes through reviews, audits and robust tracking along the project parameters of time, cost and requirements
• You identify risks and weaknesses during development and series introduction, derive improvement measures and solve technical problems in a targeted manner

• Successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics or a comparable field; a doctorate is welcome but not a prerequisite
• Experience in the development of complex technical systems, processes or tools.
• Knowledge in the assembly of sensitive components, in electrical tool equipment and ideally in working under increased cleanliness requirements
• Structured, independent and goal-oriented way of working as well as the ability to reduce complex technical interrelationships to the essentials
• Convincing appearance, desire to shape, sense of responsibility as well as pronounced communication and team skills
• Interest in digital development and production processes as well as enjoyment in further developing topics with data analysis, statistical methods or automation; experience with tools such as Python or Power BI is helpful but not a prerequisite
• Willingness to undertake occasional business trips as well as very good German and English skills in word and writing
