Precision Optician

Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH is seeking staff to manufacture, process and finish optical products in areas such as coating, pitch polishing, fabrication and precision cementing. The company provides services and production support for internal business units and makes custom products for external customers.

• Use manual skills, patience and a conscientious approach in the lens manufacturing process
• Carry out preliminary work on workpieces, including boring, cutting blanks with abrasive tools, grinding and polishing, centering and cementing surfaces
• Inspect optical components using fine tools and aids, and remove impurities from the optics
• Set up, program, monitor and optimize CNC machine operations and processes
• Measure, inspect and finish optical products
• Meet high quality standards by checking throughout production using precision measuring tools, digital measuring devices and complex measuring machines
• Document process parameters

• Completed technical vocational training as a precision optician (m/f/x), a comparable qualification or relevant professional experience
• Enjoyment of accurate, thorough and clean manual fabrication requiring a delicate touch and patience; alternatively, experience in correction processes or working with CNC technology
• Strong quality awareness and a conscientious approach to work
• Excellent teamwork, good communication skills and the ability to cope with demanding work
• Willingness to work in our shift patterns
