Machine Polisher, Optical Components

At Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH, you polish and inspect optical components. The company provides service and production support for internal business units and makes custom products for external customers, from development and prototyping to series production.

• Polish individual spherical and flat optical components, including fine polishing, to defined surface specifications
• Define, monitor and document process parameters for each component
• Check the quality of polished surfaces, including surface roughness, form accuracy and imaging quality
• Prepare, clean and finish components before measurement or testing
• Work with the measurement laboratory to validate specifications and use feedback to improve processes

• Completed relevant vocational training or equivalent knowledge and experience in optical processing
• Sound knowledge of surface measurement, including roughness and form accuracy, and assessment of imaging quality
• Experience defining, monitoring and documenting process parameters, including quality checks of polished surfaces
• Compliance with cleanliness and cleanroom requirements and with safety and quality standards
• Teamwork skills, independent fault analysis, willingness to learn and the ability to continually improve processes
• High accuracy and precision in every work step
• Willingness to work a three shift pattern
