Operational Buyer

ZEISS develops technologies for semiconductor manufacturing. As an operational buyer in Jena, you ensure the supply of materials and spare parts and coordinate purchasing, suppliers and supply chain management.

• Coordinate supply chain activities: act as the central link between operations, strategic and operational purchasing, and supply chain management to ensure the supply of materials and spare parts
• Manage escalations and problem-solving: handle escalations, L0 tickets and critical supply situations, and coordinate and track suitable measures
• Manage suppliers and service providers: prioritise work packages, manage supplier portfolios and agree responsibilities and resources
• Manage processes, reporting and data: analyse supply chain performance indicators, ensure data quality, and create and develop relevant reports and SAP-related topics
• Manage changes: represent purchasing interests in change processes and committees and ensure procurement-related changes are implemented on time
• Manage and optimise inventory: analyse stock, manage stock reports, and develop and implement measures to reduce excess stock and tied-up capital while maintaining supply availability
• Manage projects and continuous improvement: lead or contribute to supply chain and purchasing projects, and develop and implement new processes, standards, roles and ways of working

• Completed commercial vocational training
• Several years of experience in purchasing, materials management or supply chain management
• Sound knowledge of procurement, supply chain, process and project management
• Confident use of SAP and experience with performance indicators, reporting and data-based management tools
• Ability to coordinate different internal and external stakeholders effectively and explain complex matters clearly
• A structured, independent and solution-focused approach, with the ability to identify improvements and implement them for lasting results
• Very good German and English skills
