Quality Inspector for Optical Components in Metrology

Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH is hiring a quality inspector for optical components and assemblies in Jena. The role involves measurements, quality checks and recording inspection results.

• Prepare inspection tasks by reviewing and checking documents such as drawings, work plans and inspection instructions
• Set up and calibrate the required measuring and testing equipment according to specifications
• Measure and inspect optical components and assemblies to ensure all required quality standards are met
• Carry out interferometric measurements on optical components and record inspection results
• Carry out acceptance measurements within the specified tolerances
• Arrange rework when tolerances are exceeded, agree on next steps with supervisors and engineering, and record progress in manufacturing control systems and quality databases
• Carry out cleaning, maintenance and simple repairs
• Within the scope of the relevant qualification

• Successfully completed technical vocational training, ideally as a precision optician, physics laboratory technician, mechatronics technician or in a comparable technical occupation
• Professional experience in quality inspection, metrology or production, ideally involving optical components
• Experience using measuring and testing equipment, along with technical understanding
• Knowledge of carrying out and evaluating interferometric measurements is an advantage
• Confident use of technical documents such as drawings, work plans and inspection instructions
• Quality awareness and a careful, structured and reliable approach to work
• Strong concentration, accuracy and sense of responsibility
• Ability to spend time in darkened rooms and willingness to work a three shift pattern
