Apprenticeship Train Traffic Controller 2027

Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting September 1, 2027, we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as a railway operator in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Kempten (Allgäu) location. The vocational school is located in Munich. With this apprenticeship, you become the coordinator of our trains. You don't sit in the train, but in a control center (called 'signal box'). We have countless such centers across Germany. Via screens or panels you can observe trains in your area and influence their movement via buttons, keys, and levers. At the push of a button, you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for train drivers. You are in constant contact and exchange information about changes during the journey. With your small team, you work in the greater Kempten area or the Augsburg region on a signal box close to the action. Here you see trains passing by. Train control is mostly done via levers, push buttons, or rotary switches. With your large team of about 40 colleagues, you work in the operations center on an electronic signal box. At your workplace, you can track trains on many screens and control train traffic by mouse click.

• You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) school and your school diploma is recognized in Germany
• Your German language skills correspond to at least C1 level

• You are willing to work in shifts
• For this apprenticeship, an aptitude test is part of the selection process
