About this Apprenticeship
We are Deutsche Bahn. Millions of passengers travel with us every day and we transport enormous quantities of goods – nationwide and in neighbouring Europe. Too often we also disappoint. That's why we are working flat out for a better railway. For that we need power and you! We are one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year we look for around 5,000 apprentices in 50 different apprenticeship occupations who want to make the railway a little better every day together with us. Get on board: we offer you attractive benefits, a dedicated contact person and a great team at your side. And after successful apprenticeship you have the best takeover chances! Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. From 01.09.2027 we are looking for you for the 2.5-year apprenticeship as a railway operative in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Münster location. The vocational school is located in Hagen. With the apprenticeship you become the coordinator of our trains. You don't sit in the train, but in a control centre (called: "signal box"). We have countless of these throughout Germany. Via screens or panels you can observe the trains in your area and via buttons, keys and levers you can also influence the train journeys. Because at the push of a button you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are in constant contact and exchange information, e.g. about changes during the journey. With your small team you work in the greater Münster area on a signal box close to the action. Here you see the trains passing by. The control of the trains is mostly via levers, push buttons or rotary switches.
What You'll Learn
Your colleagues show you step by step how to operate the technology in a signal box correctly You learn when to press the right keys and buttons to switch signals (traffic lights) or points (track change transitions) With the other employees in train traffic control and in the control centres as well as the train drivers you are often in contact You are an important part of our team and enable our passengers a safe and punctual journey with our trains

You have (soon) successfully completed school and your school leaving certificate is recognised in Germany Your German skills correspond to at least B2 language level Even in demanding situations you keep calm and maintain an overview You like to take responsibility and work with concentration Teamwork and reliability characterise you You are willing to work in shifts For this apprenticeship an aptitude test is expected as part of the selection process.
