Dual Study Civil Engineering with Apprenticeship 2027

Starting 01.09.2027 we are looking for you for the 4.5-year dual study program leading to a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with integrated vocational training as a track layer (f/m/d) at DB InfraGO AG in Stuttgart or Vaihingen an der Enz. Your theoretical phases take place at the Technical University of Nuremberg. For the practical part you are directly in the company, but also in the training workshop in Nuremberg at Conradtystr. 19. You start with a one-month practical assignment to get to know the company and your department. Afterwards you alternate between track construction crews and office work. You attend vocational school and our training workshop and support our colleagues directly on site. In the second year you start your studies parallel to the apprenticeship. During lecture-free periods you apply your knowledge in practice and gain valuable experience in your company. In the third year you complete your apprenticeship as a track layer / civil engineering specialist. After 4.5 years you finish your studies with your bachelor thesis.

Theoretical phases: You learn the fundamentals of engineering sciences – topics from mathematics and physics. You gain sound knowledge in structural engineering, geotechnics, hydraulic engineering and transport. You also take courses in business administration, law and project management – ideal for your later responsibility in construction. During your dual studies you will also participate in exciting interdisciplinary study projects. Practical phases: You work directly in construction supervision and gain practical insights, e.g. in construction calculation, construction supervision and project management. You familiarize yourself with the varied tasks in track construction, such as inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of tracks and switches. You experience how infrastructure projects are planned and implemented. On construction sites you are closely involved – from surveying to quality control. You also learn testing and measurement methods and important manual basics.

You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) your Abitur or have an equivalent professional qualification (professionally qualified applicants must meet the enrollment requirements at TH Nuremberg). Your favorite subjects are math and physics. You enjoy teamwork and have a natural aptitude for manual work. You are keen on varied tasks between office, planning and construction site with changing locations and working hours (including night shifts). Purposeful and independent work is a matter of course for you.

For the success of your training we provide the best conditions: You receive a notebook from us that you can use for learning and privately. We support you in settling into your new city! If you have to commute more than 2.5 hours daily from your previous residence and rent a closer apartment, you receive a rent subsidy of up to 400 € per month.
