Data Scientist Inventory and Stock Management

The Stock Management and Inventory team belongs to the Finance and Controlling division and is responsible for inventory and stock management in dm stores in Germany and Poland. The team develops, supports and coordinates permanent inventory, stock management and reporting, and develops new solutions in SAP Retail and other systems.

• Developing data-driven analysis, forecasting and evaluation models for questions about inventory, stock management and stock quality
• Building and maintaining data structures to analyse changes over time in organisation, assortment and stock data, and identifying patterns, risks and optimisation potential
• Selecting and applying suitable statistical and machine learning methods for complex technical questions
• Preparing, selecting and deriving relevant features from existing data and developing automated analysis processes and scripts
• Working with internal partners and dmTECH to further develop analytical solutions and prepare their technical implementation
• Preparing, visualising and presenting analytical findings and deriving recommendations as a basis for decisions

• Completed degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, data science or a comparable quantitative or technical field
• Ideally experience with merchandise management processes such as stock management, inventory or article planning, in retail or a related environment
• Sound knowledge of data analysis, statistical modelling and machine learning
• Experience in analytical programming with Python or R and database queries with SQL
• Knowledge of processing large amounts of data, data preparation and feature engineering, ideally also automating analytical workflows
• Experience with version control, e.g. Git or GitLab, and with moving analytical models into production environments
• Enjoyment of analysing complex data structures, strong analytical thinking, structured and independent working style, and strong presentation and communication skills
• Very good German skills
