Apprenticeship as a Retail Sales Assistant with Additional Qualification as a Fresh Food Specialist 2027

The apprenticeship initially lasts two years. During this time, you will begin the additional IHK qualification as a fresh food specialist, which you complete after three years with a separate IHK examination. You can add the third year of retail salesperson training or complete the additional qualification after qualifying as a retail sales assistant.

Learn about varied retail tasks, focusing on fresh-food and service-oriented departments; serve and advise customers in fresh-food departments; operate tills, carry out cash reconciliations and advise customers on services; present goods in a sales-promoting way and help with product range planning, marketing and merchandise displays; store and handle fresh food correctly and observe hygiene standards; organise sales and tasting events and evaluate their success using merchandise management data.
