Apprenticeship as a Sales Assistant with Additional Qualification as a Fresh Food Specialist 2027

You will first complete a two-year apprenticeship as a sales assistant and begin the additional qualification as a Fresh Food Specialist (IHK) during your training. After three years, you will complete this qualification with a separate IHK examination, either after adding the third year of training as a retail sales specialist or as a fully qualified sales assistant. You will also attend exclusive seminars and workshops on product knowledge, sales and exam preparation.

You will learn the diverse tasks involved in retail, focusing on fresh food and service-oriented departments; serve and advise customers in the fresh food areas; operate checkout systems, carry out reconciliations and advise customers on services; create sales-promoting product presentations and help shape the range, marketing and product displays; ensure the proper storage and handling of fresh food and comply with hygiene standards; organise sales and tasting events and evaluate their success using merchandise management data.
