The apprenticeship as a retail business administrator is a good alternative to university studies. It combines theory and practice: from daily retail business to business administration, work organization and accounting to marketing, logistics and sales. After three years you obtain two qualifications: retail merchant and certified retail business administrator (IHK) (equivalent to bachelor level) plus the trainer aptitude certificate (AEVO). Vocational school classes are omitted; instead you attend a local trade school and participate in various projects.
