Apprenticeship as Specialist in Gastronomy - Focus: System Gastronomy

Specialists in gastronomy serve guests in a service-oriented and sales-promoting manner. They take orders in restaurants and serve drinks and food, dispense drinks at the bar or sell food at the counter. They decorate tables for occasions and seasons and set up buffets. In the kitchen they prepare simple dishes, garnish cold platters or arrange the breakfast buffet. Checking stock levels and food usability is also part of the job. In the system gastronomy focus, basic tasks in the kitchen or production and guest service are deepened. Working hours in the day shift are usually between 06:00 and 17:00 (39-hour week). Apprenticeship duration: 2 years; with good performance it can be extended by one year to qualify as a specialist in system gastronomy.

At least secondary school certificate after grade 10 / lower secondary school leaving certificate; mathematical skills (basic arithmetic, decimal, fraction, percentage and rule-of-three calculations); careful and precise work style; customer orientation and verbal expression skills
