Apprenticeship as Warehouse Logistics Specialist at HS-C. Hempelmann Schönbeck KG

Hello, I'm Benjamin. I've been doing an apprenticeship as a warehouse logistics specialist at HS-C. Hempelmann Schönbeck KG for 1.5 years. During my apprenticeship in the warehouse area, I've already learned: safe handling of the warehouse management system (WMS), picking deliveries and shipping them on time, storing goods properly, securing shipping, driving forklifts. Currently I'm working in our warehouse in the cable/pipe area. My tasks there are storing and picking stainless steel, steel, or copper pipes using a special forklift. In the cable area, I cut various cables or lines to the customer's desired length using a cable cutting machine. But during the apprenticeship at Hempelmann, I'm not only in the warehouse area, but also rotate through various other departments. For example, I was also deployed in goods receipt, where I checked goods delivered by freight forwarders and stored them in the appropriate compartments. In the ABEX (a pick-up express warehouse only for skilled tradespeople), I learned not only how to assemble the goods needed by the tradesperson, but also practiced dealing with customers. In the apprenticeship at the GC Group, I also sometimes go 'on tour' with the truck, meaning I ride along with a truck driver and deliver the picked goods. This teaches you the path the item takes after our picking. Which areas I can be deployed in always depends on my interests and the situation in the respective department. That was a little insight into my apprentice daily life at Hempelmann. You see, the apprenticeship as a warehouse logistics specialist is varied and uses modern work equipment.
