Apprenticeship as Biology Laboratory Technician

As a trainee, you will work in laboratories on a wide range of scientific questions. In consultation with our scientists, you will carry out practical experiments and evaluate them, using modern measuring and analytical equipment. During your training, you will gain insight into working with microorganisms, cell cultures and laboratory animals. You will learn various molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry and immunology methods and techniques, which you will apply to research widespread diseases together with us. You will be deployed in different institutes and departments of our research centre, acquiring a very broad knowledge base. In addition, all trainees take part in internal further training on topics such as learning strategies and team training.

Carrying out and evaluating practical experiments in consultation with scientists; operating modern measuring and analytical equipment; working with microorganisms, cell cultures and laboratory animals; applying molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry and immunology methods; deployment in various institutes and departments of the research centre; participation in internal further training (learning strategies, team training).

At least an intermediate school leaving certificate (Mittlere Reife) and an interest in biology, chemistry and scientific issues. Manual dexterity and willingness to work practically in the laboratory. Careful, responsible and reliable working methods so that experiments are carried out precisely and results are documented correctly. Communication skills in German (at least B2 level) and English, and you enjoy working in a team with scientists.
