• Your Ausbildung as an Operating Room Assistant (m/w/d) is divided into two areas: the theoretical and the practical part of the Ausbildung.
• The Ausbildung begins with a theoretical introductory phase of several weeks on our own educational campus.
• The practical part takes place between the blocks of instruction, where you will get to know all surgical disciplines and all operating rooms of our hospital association.
• You will support our doctors in the operating room and accompany our patients before, during, and after the procedure.
• You will assist with the preparation and follow-up and during surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• You will be supported by pedagogically trained practical instructors. They will continuously accompany you during your practical assignments in the operating room and in other specialist departments.
• We will teach you the maintenance and care of instruments and medical equipment.
• We will show you how to properly organize and manage, e.g., operating room materials.
• You will take on administrative tasks such as documenting surgical data.
• Your participation in the organization and coordination of workflows in the operating area together with the interdisciplinary team is important to us.
• In addition to the basics of hygiene, anatomy, and physiology, you will also acquire knowledge in endoscopy, emergency care, and medical microbiology, as well as radiology and radiation protection.
• Subjects such as hospital business administration, social medicine, and the basics of psychology, sociology, and pedagogy are also part of your curriculum.
• Reflections on practical experiences round off your timetable.
• With the right school leaving certificate, you can opt for a dual study program after your first year of Ausbildung, which will lead you to your first university degree, the Bachelor's. Total duration of Ausbildung and studies: 4 - 4.5 years.

• You have a Realschulabschluss, Fachhochschulreife, or Hochschulreife.
• You are very interested in working in a hospital, especially in anesthesia.
• You have good manners and are empathetic.
• You remain calm and organized even in stressful situations.
• You have completed at least a two-week internship in an operating theater in anesthesia (mandatory).
• You are characterized by both teamwork and independence, and you see the work that needs to be done.
• You have a medical certificate of health suitability for the profession (at the latest by your employment).
• You submit an official certificate of good conduct, issued no earlier than 6 months before the start of the Ausbildung (at the latest by your employment).
