Apprenticeship as a Registered Nurse

The three-year generalist dual apprenticeship provides insight into many hospital wards and specialist departments. Theoretical lessons take place at the in-house Academy for Health Professions in Mönchengladbach, while practical placements are completed in various wards, functional departments and with cooperation partners.

You learn professional nursing care for patients of all age groups, work with different clinical conditions, activities and duties, and complete practical placements in wards, functional departments and at cooperation partners.

Interest in medical topics and working with people. You are socially minded, a team player, willing to take responsibility, communicative and enjoy working with other professional groups. Applicants need an intermediate secondary school qualification or an equivalent qualification, such as a Hauptschulabschluss 10A, or a Hauptschulabschluss 9 combined with at least two years of completed vocational training, or a state-regulated nursing assistant or helper qualification lasting at least one year. School qualifications obtained abroad must be recognised by the responsible district government.
