Apprenticeship as a Road Maintenance Worker

An apprenticeship with movement, responsibility and technology! As a prospective road maintenance worker at the Osnabrück district, you ensure that roads, cycle paths and traffic signs are safe, clean and functional – keeping everything literally in motion. Whether maintaining road embankments, winter service or securing construction sites: You work outdoors, in a team and with state-of-the-art technology. An apprenticeship for everyone who wants to get stuck in – with purpose and a secure perspective in the public service. The apprenticeship as a road maintenance worker lasts three years and combines theory and practice. In the practical phases of your apprenticeship, you work at the district road maintenance depot in Bissendorf (KSM Süd). There you learn how construction sites are secured, e.g. by signage, thus protecting all road users. You maintain road embankments, ditches and green spaces. You carry out minor construction and repair work on roads, paths and bridges. You operate and maintain machines and vehicles – from lawnmowers to Unimogs. You assist in winter service: snow clearing, gritting and early rising included. You complete the theoretical part of your apprenticeship at the vocational school in Cadenberge and at the training centers in Rostrup and Mellendorf. There you learn: Fundamentals of construction, mechanical and traffic engineering. Occupational safety and environmental protection. Handling tools, equipment and modern machines. Everything you need to work safely and efficiently outdoors. Apprenticeship starts on 01.08.2027. No previous knowledge required – but enthusiasm for technology, teamwork and fresh air. You have at least a secondary school diploma at the start of your apprenticeship. You are weatherproof, physically resilient and work carefully. You are interested in machines, technology and craftsmanship. You can get stuck in, enjoy working in a team and take responsibility. Don't have a car and truck license yet? You will acquire these during your apprenticeship – the district of Osnabrück covers the costs! Fair pay & secure perspective: 1st year: €1,368 gross/month. 2nd year: €1,418 gross/month. 3rd year: €1,464 gross/month. Additionally, you receive a learning material allowance of €50 gross per apprenticeship year, an annual special payment and a completion bonus of €400 upon successful completion. Personal support: Fixed contact persons who accompany you during your apprenticeship. Good team spirit: Teamwork in the district road maintenance depot & joint activities, e.g. an apprenticeship trip, with other junior staff of the district administration.
