Research Associate for the Institute for Forensic Psychiatry and Sexual Research

For its sexual science research area, the LVR University Hospital Essen is looking for a committed person whose main task is planning and carrying out a time-limited longitudinal study on sexualized substance use (concept, effects, protective and risk factors). Fixed term of 36 months, part-time.

• Project planning and design
• Recruiting and supporting study participants
• Data collection (mainly standardized questionnaires)
• Data preparation and analysis using longitudinal and cross-sectional statistical methods
• Scientific writing and publication of research results
• Project-related administrative tasks
• Presenting research results at national and international congresses
• Taking on teaching and student instruction
• Helping with ethics and third-party funding applications
• Supervising Bachelor's and Master's students in internships

• A very good completed university degree in psychology (Master of Science or Diplom)
• Proven practical experience in psychological research (especially empirical studies)
• Knowledge of and strong interest in behavioral addictions and substance use disorders
• High motivation for scientific work and for independent problem and error analysis
• Very good spoken and written German and English, including the ability to write scientific texts in English and work in an English-speaking team
• Very good knowledge of scientific methods and statistics, especially analyzing large survey studies
• Good knowledge of R, possibly SPSS and MPlus
• Willingness to adapt your working hours to project needs, including on-site phases at our institute in Essen
