Apprenticeship as an Information Services Assistant, Library Specialization

Training in the library of an internationally recognized research institute. The three-year apprenticeship covers acquiring, processing and managing media, maintaining collections, user services and information provision.

Acquire, organize and provide media and information; process books and journals in print and digital form; maintain collections; support user services and information provision.

Intermediate school-leaving certificate, advanced technical college entrance qualification or university entrance qualification; interest in books and electronic media; interest in digital content; basic MS Office skills; accuracy, sense of responsibility and very good comprehension; good spoken and written German and English; German at least at C1 level.

Training remuneration under the TVAöD federal public-service agreement, currently starting at €1,368.26; public-service benefits including an annual special payment; 31 days of vacation; flexible working hours; good working atmosphere; own workstation; central location with good public transport connections and parking options; extracurricular training; €400 completion bonus; with good performance, a fixed-term contract of up to six months may be offered.
