Apprenticeship as Nursing Specialist

The apprenticeship lasts three years and starts on 1 April or 1 October each year. It consists of a theoretical part (2,100 hours) at the in-house nursing school (Bildungszentrum Gesundheit Rhein Neckar GmbH) and a practical part (2,500 hours) in the wards of the Psychiatric Centre Nordbaden and surrounding hospitals. Classes are held in block format.

Plan, organise, design, implement, control and evaluate nursing processes and nursing diagnostics in acute and long-term care situations. Design person- and situation-oriented communication and counselling. Responsibly shape intra- and interprofessional action in systemic contexts. Reflect on own actions based on laws, regulations and ethical guidelines. Align own actions with scientific findings. Practical nursing care for people of all ages in inpatient and outpatient acute and long-term care as well as paediatric and psychiatric care.

Intermediate school leaving certificate or equivalent, or lower secondary school leaving certificate combined with a completed vocational training of at least two years or a one-year training in nursing or geriatric care assistance. Medical fitness. For applicants from abroad: at least B2 German level and a German-recognised school certificate with intermediate qualification.

Apprenticeship remuneration according to TVA-L Pflege from 01.02.2025: 1st year €1,380.70, 2nd year €1,446.70, 3rd year €1,553.00. Free parking, Jobrad, subsidised job ticket.
