Would you like to contribute your skills in the service of the general public and actively participate in shaping the future of tax administration? Welcome to the Lower Saxony State Tax Office! We are offering up to five places for a Dual Study Program Bachelor of Computer Science (B. Sc.) in the field of Application Development or System Operations (m/f/d) starting October 1, 2027. As a so-called intermediate authority, we operate with our three departments (Central Tasks, Taxation, and Information and Communication Technology) at the interface between the Ministry of Finance and the Lower Saxony tax offices as well as the Tax Academy. The IT department with its 360 colleagues is the IT service provider for the Lower Saxony tax administration. Together we tackle complex tasks and have ensured for 50 years that the IT of the tax administration is modernized, maintained, and further developed. Smart. Sovereign. Networked. As a prospective B. Sc. Computer Science student, you will support the numerous IT projects in the tax administration at the LStN in the area of developing cloud-based or client/server-based specialist applications or in the system technology area (operation of the development infrastructure). During the practical phases, you will get to know the LStN and can work on current projects, so that theoretical knowledge is directly applied and expanded. The theoretical foundations are taught at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics Hanover (FHDW). Information on the course of study can be found on the FHDW website. The study units at the university alternate with the practical phases at the LStN.

As a prospective B. Sc. University entrance qualification with a grade point average of at least 2.9; applications from persons with relevant IT training are particularly welcome, e.g., IT specialist. Good performance in mathematics, physics, possibly computer science, and English. Good German language skills in writing and speaking (at least C1 level). Good analytical and logical thinking skills. Openness to dynamically developing information technology. Enjoyment of working in a team. Personal reliability for the intended activity, to be proven by submitting a certificate of good conduct.

Study remuneration of currently €1,610 gross per month during the 3.5 years of full-time study. Tuition fees covered by the LStN.
