• As part of a newly forming interdisciplinary expert team, you focus on joining technology and actively contribute your expertise.
• As part of your master's thesis, you determine the manufacturing and process windows for a novel joining process for the direct joining of metallic materials.
• You comprehensively research the current state of the art on joining hybrid materials and derive important insights from it.
• You independently create test plans and carry out the experimental work, such as sample production and joining tests.
• In doing so, you gain valuable experimental knowledge, for example in the areas of laser surface treatment or ultrasound-assisted joining.
• You characterize the resulting joints mechanically, electrically and thermally, with tensile tests, determination of conductivity, metallographic sections and scanning electron microscopy providing a deep scientific understanding of the process.
• By agreement, there is the possibility to patent your research results or publish them as part of a scientific paper, making your work visible.

• Education: Master's degree in engineering or natural sciences with a focus on physics, materials science, micro-/nanotechnology, mechanical engineering or equivalent with very good academic performance
• Experience and know-how: practical experience in joining technology, test planning, experimental laboratory work and materials analysis is an advantage
• Personality and work approach: highly motivated and with creative ideas you approach your work, always keeping goals in mind; your independent and structured way of working characterizes you; you feel at home in a technically interdisciplinary topic; it is important to you to critically question your results; you present your results confidently
• Daily work: work flexibly in our dynamic team and take advantage of the possibility of mobile working by individual agreement
• Enthusiasm: for practical work with a scientific background; interest in clarifying cause-and-effect relationships; understanding of profound technical and scientific interrelationships
• Languages: good German and English written and spoken
• Prerequisite for the thesis is enrollment at a university.
